FAQs About Matrix & Marin CIL
Merger for Parents

Why are Matrix & Marin CIL merging?

To deepen our support for individuals with disabilities, their families, and caregivers across their lifespan in Marin, Solano, Sonoma, and Napa counties.

When is the merger happening?

Both the Matrix and Marin CIL Boards of Directors approved the merger this past spring and Matrix Parents team members will be employed by Marin CIL starting July 1st.

Will Matrix continue to provide all the same services it did before?

Yes, we will be available as we have been over the past 40 years to support families, caregivers, individuals, and professionals in Marin, Sonoma, Solano, and Napa.

Matrix at Marin CIL will continue to function as the Family Empowerment Center (FEC), the Family Resource Center (FRC), and the Parent Training & Information Center (PTI) for Marin, Solano, and Sonoma counties. Additionally, we will continue to serve Napa County through our PTI funding.

Will the way I access services change?

Our English and Spanish helplines will remain the same. Our office at 2400 Galinas will remain open and our URL, matrixparents.org, will remain operational. Direct telephone numbers and email addresses will update at some point early 2025.

Will there be an expansion of our programs and support groups specific to different age groups?

We are looking to host "community listening sessions" during Fall 2024 to hear directly from families as we continue to identify and address service opportunities through our new "accessible path for life" model.

How can I continue to support Matrix work?

Gifts in support of our youth and family programs can be made at marincil.org/supportmatrix. All donations are tax-deductible and we invite you to leave a comment in support of Matrix families.

Who can I contact if I have more questions about the merger?

If you are a parent, caregiver, or professional with questions about Matrix services, you can contact us as usual, by phone, email, or by visiting our website.

For merger related questions or to share your thoughts, please email Marcia Hodges, Interim Executive Director, at marciah@matrixparents.org.
