This is a part of Disability Rights California's (DRC) Housing Webinar Series and will repeated on the 4th Thursday of each month.
About the webinar:
Applicants to and participants in the Housing Choice Voucher program and public housing have the right to request reasonable accommodations to access their housing programs.
In this webinar we will:
Discuss how these rights are often applied to Housing Authorities and best practices in making these requests.
Discuss Housing Authority administrative processes and how to self-advocate within the Housing Authorities.
Review common questions and rules that often arise from our callers with vouchers, such as source of income discrimination.
Explain the In-Home Supportive Services income exclusions with attendees.
If you still have questions after the workshop, you can request to chat with an Equal Access and Housing team member in a private 15-minute consultation. If you need more in-depth support, we can set up a separate appointment for you.
Speakers:
Tracy Walsh (she/her) is a part of Disability Rights California’s Equal Access and Housing Practice Group, where she assists people with disabilities on housing law matters. Tracy’s practice group believes in sharing knowledge and resources with their clients to empower them to make the best, informed decisions for themselves.
Please submit request for Reasonable accommodations by August 21, 2025
Reasonable accommodations make sure that everyone can engage and participate with our events. Accommodations include live captioning, live American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, language translation, and more. Through making events accessible, we aim to fully include all people in our virtual events.
